She did it! She did it! She finally did it! Elizabeth went pee pee in the potty chair!
I would love to say that I’ve been spending a lot of time potty-training and encouraging, but no…I decided that she needed to tell me when she was ready. So here we go! I think potty-training (or in my case, potty-support?) is truly beginning.
It wasn’t just a ‘sit-on-the-potty-til-you-pee’ situation, either. Elizabeth took off her diaper (first time she has done this), asked for the potty, sat down, got up, walked around naked for a minute or two, went back to the potty on her own and peed! She obviously was feeling the need and knew what to do. And not just a few drops, I have to add. Awesome.
We celebrated with high-fives and lots of hooting and even calling Daddy into the bathroom to celebrate with us. Then I told her we’d celebrate that evening after school with cupcakes. And, being the most-efficient parent in the world, I never picked up cupcakes during the day.
After school, she asked for the potty again and, again, peed in the potty chair!! This is definitely new behavior.
We HAD to celebrate, so I gave her another of her favorite dishes – ice cream! But I turned off the lights, put a candle in her scoop of ice cream and we sang, “She’s a jolly good fellow.” Stupid, I know, but she just liked the singing, the attention, and the cool candle. In addition to getting a rare bowl of ice cream!
