tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-106835752024-03-07T04:48:13.331-05:00diandyJoin Diane and Andy. We started this blog as we began our travels across America in our RV in 2004. (This blog will go back to January of 2005, but for 2004 travels you can visit our website at www.diandy.com). In 2009 we settled down once again, but in Colorado. Our family has since grown (and moved), and we are once again eager to explore our beautiful country, and hopefully the world...this time with the intent of sharing our love for travel with our little love.Dianehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13802175658055940464noreply@blogger.comBlogger691125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10683575.post-5645723214334608362015-03-06T22:59:00.001-05:002015-03-06T23:02:58.046-05:00Costume ContestEliz and I joined some friends for a special sing-a-long Little Mermaid movie showing. It was fun with arts and crafts before and noise-makers during the movie. There was even a costume contest at intermission. Well, if u know Elizabeth you'd know it was impossible to get her to think about wearing a mermaid or princess costume. What she came up with was a crab! Very appropriate. So I did Dianehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13802175658055940464noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10683575.post-14534156922364201992015-03-06T22:41:00.001-05:002015-03-06T22:41:20.520-05:00A First WatchDaddy went to Vegas for a trade show and brought home this special gift for Elizabeth. A dinosaur watch! So cute. We've been teaching Eliz about telling time but a dial watch will be a little more challenging! At least she was comprehending the concept of time. Just another tool for teaching. I have been trying for months to get Elizabeth to do more for herself – like getting dressed, brushing her teeth, and her hair – without me having to prod and stand over her.  It wasn’t happening, but then, with the flip of the calendar, she made her declaration. I’m thrilledDianehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13802175658055940464noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10683575.post-32268344155936766202015-02-26T22:29:00.000-05:002015-03-06T22:29:48.850-05:00First PlayThe snow was coming down hard, adding to the multitude of inches already on the ground.  All public (and Catholic) schools in our area were closed.  So we called it a snow day ourselves and closed the store.  We had our computers and enough work to keep us busy at home, so we weren’t too bothered by “hunkering down” as we like to do on these frigid white days. But then the snow Dianehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13802175658055940464noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10683575.post-74159995994181378432015-02-01T18:17:00.000-05:002015-02-22T18:17:38.764-05:00Animals, Butterflies and DinosaursWe got to go to the Zoo when frosty winter night to see Zoo Lights.  Wow!  Was that amazing!  A lot of fun, albeit quite cold. Wish I had a tripod to eliminate much of the blur. Elizabeth got a big girl’s two-wheel bike from Mom and Dad for Christmas and Santa gave her a red Scooter, just as she wished for. One of my personal favorite places to go to on a cold winter Dianehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13802175658055940464noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10683575.post-48802314738424945962014-12-31T18:01:00.000-05:002015-02-22T18:01:46.048-05:00DecemberElizabeth’s pediatrician recommended a sticker-reward system to encourage Elizabeth to stay in her own bed.  We were excited how well she did at the start of the program.  She wanted me to send this picture to Dr. K to show him how well she did! Went for a horse carriage ride with our friends Stacy, Finley and Alli. She still is eating that Gingerbread House… Flew home to Dianehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13802175658055940464noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10683575.post-71512326082625065122014-12-01T17:46:00.000-05:002015-02-22T17:46:24.744-05:00November in a NutshellCarol came out for a visit, and since time was short, we took her, Stephanie and Alex for a hike at NCAR> Scary bunch, eh? This time we headed up towards Mallory Cave to see if we could see any bats. Fun and rocky, but we had to turn back due to time before we made it to the cave.  We’ll try again another day. Elizabeth fed the Lorikeets at the zoo this month.  What fun!Dianehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13802175658055940464noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10683575.post-16511802079494354012014-11-01T18:32:00.000-04:002015-02-22T17:32:53.358-05:00Pumpkins and Trick or TreatingI love visiting the large pumpkin patches during the fall. Elizabeth loved the opportunity to help Daddy steer the car on the windy roads inside the farm. She races through the hay bale maze in no time! Leaf jumping…and, er…biking? Notice that most pictures have had her in her pumpkin tshirt?  Yup, she wore it almost everyday this month!  Good thing the weather was so Dianehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13802175658055940464noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10683575.post-86350679592383479162014-10-06T18:19:00.000-04:002015-02-22T17:19:27.737-05:00October’s CelebrationsElizabeth had three birthday parties this year.  Once at Aunt Karen’s, one family one at home on her birthday, and a celebration with friends at a local park.  We’ve been so lucky we’ve had great weather for the outdoor playtime! Shopping for decorations and gifts at the Party City was a time-consuming event! We had a dinosaur theme, with fun pith helmets for the kiddos. Dianehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13802175658055940464noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10683575.post-48874180133775902632014-09-30T18:09:00.000-04:002015-02-22T17:10:58.464-05:00California for Beach TimeThe four of us took a trip to California to get in some beach time. Daddy pokes fun of the slow Subaru drivers in Colorado, so it was no surprise that karma thought it’d be funny if our rental car was a subaru…and Elizabeth couldn’t believe it! We got to spend some time with Jen and Alex at the beach, which was awesome as always.  Love being able to reconnect with dear friends. In September, Elizabeth became a JPR at RMNP by paying close attention on our hikes, gathering information about nature and the park animals, and recording her findings.  She was so proud to get her badge! Here are some of my favorite pictures from that trip.  More on the Dianehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13802175658055940464noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10683575.post-78150719615446461592014-08-14T11:12:00.001-04:002014-08-14T11:12:17.906-04:00Soooo TiredYou know daddy is extra tired when he takes your daughter to school without her socks and shoes!Good thing I tripped over them in the hallway to notice that they were home....and not on her feetDianehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13802175658055940464noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10683575.post-78598911367633191522014-08-02T19:16:00.001-04:002014-08-02T19:16:14.207-04:00Snakes!Took Elizabeth to a Nature Nuts class for toddlers with two of her friends. She was quietly sitting in a chair until Roger brought out the live snakes. She even nudged her way to the front when he said he had a big one!A five foot Bull snake! We did arts and crafts and other fun games to learn about snakes. Elizabeth told me afterward that she now wants a snake for her birthday. Uh oh.Dianehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13802175658055940464noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10683575.post-40333633168322369822014-07-20T18:00:00.001-04:002014-07-20T18:01:15.878-04:00Getting WetWe were so excited to see a big change in Elizabeth this week. All of a sudden she began playing in the sprinklers, even bending over to get her head wet. She played The Monkey game in the shower turning the spray nozzle on herself and spraying water into her mouth. We took her to a pool today and she actually ran through the fountains soaking her head. For those of you who know her well Dianehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13802175658055940464noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10683575.post-72248535317676513372014-07-20T17:47:00.001-04:002014-07-20T18:01:06.408-04:00Should've ExpectedAndy thought he was being funny at the playground. There is a play station teaching kids about the planets. Andy says to Elizabeth. "Look honey, there's Uranus." (Snicker snicker) Her response?? "And there's your other anus, and your other anus, and another anus!"Not necessarily something you want your kid yelling in public. Crazy sounding , I know. But after two white bowel movements the other options are frightening. I didn't think too much of white poop until I thought I should read up on this strange color. Maybe Elizabeth just needed more protein in her diet I thought. Soooo...last Thursday, Elizabeth mentions that she found a rock at the playground at school and in order to keep it away from her friends, she hid it....in her nose. You might know what it's like to hear something like this from a three-year-old and when you pepper them with questions you got nonsensical answers, right? Well, I shined a flashlight up her nose and didn't see anything Dianehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13802175658055940464noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10683575.post-35037134229503358202014-06-10T22:21:00.001-04:002014-06-10T22:21:05.463-04:00Ssage MeHave we told how we are spoiling our daughter ? When she is sick I massage her with essential oils to help boost her immunity. When she falls down, we have other oils to help healing. When she's tired, a nice massage. When she wakes up , a massage. When I'm trying to get her to sleep, a massage. And so on . So over the years I've built up an expectation I guess. Now? We had a blast taking her to the local court with a wall to play against. Of course she thought she should've been able to hit all of the balls...so that led to some tears but all ended well. The river was flowing high and I thought he was studying the flow rate when I asked. "What are looking at?" And when he said "are you sure you want to know?" My heart skipped, my stomach churned and I answered " a body, huh?" Ugh
