Elizabeth’s First Hike : Lair O’ the Bear

It’s been 2 1/2 weeks since Elizabeth has been in our lives.  We’ve gotten out for a couple of walks, but getting her on a trail felt like we were getting some semblance of normalcy back into our lives.  That may have been a short-lived exaggeration, but we still savored the time outside in nature.

On her two-week birthday we took her to Lair O’ the Bear park because I had hoped the trails would be a little more subdued than others, elevation wasn’t much higher, and with trails along the creek I had hoped for some beautiful fall colors.  Oh, and we haven’t been there before.

We found our fall colors:

Enjoying the trail along Bear Creek:

Ok, so she might’ve slept thru most of the hike:

Feeding time at the picnic area:

Shortly after feeding Elizabeth, we learned of one major downfall of the Baby Bjorn…it smeared her poopy diaper all over the poor girl and her special “Halloween” outfit.  Good thing we were near the car and a fresh change of clothes for her!  Oddly, she didn’t cry over that mess – but she loudly protests over every other wet or dirty diaper, that’s for sure!

More pictures of our hike and some random photos of daily life with Elizabeth can be found at our October WebAlbum.

I like the idea of normalcy. Not that I would ever be normal.

Beautiful! Glad to see you are out and about with the little one. It's so healthy to get them outdoors as soon as possible....regardless of what some may think! =0) Shes simply adorable! Good work!
