A Visit with Dorota: Boulder, CO – South Mesa

Our friend, Dorota from Ft Lauderdale, came out to visit in April.  We had talked about doing “the usual” get together…such as dinner in or dinner out, but then we decided on a hike.  It’s the perfect opportunity to get together and chat.  I find that I get “twitchy” if I don’t get into the hills every week or two, and this was one of those times I was getting twitchy for a hike anyway.  Good thing they liked the idea!

Here’s Andy, Dorota, and her friend, Thomas, on one of the trails at South Mesa.  This trail system is just south of Boulder off of Hwy 93.  Another close-to-home hiking opportunity, but surprisingly our first visit to this beautiful park.

Beautiful rock formations and lots of evergreens.  The wildflowers are just coming out and the trees are blooming.  It’s getting us excited for spring!!

You could hike from this park into Chautauqua from here (read about our hike in Chautauqua).

Afterward we went to Southern Sun Pub & Brewery.  Good food and brews.  Thanks Dee and Thomas for such a nice afternoon!
