Some Old Barns

I went for a bike ride yesterday.  Just a short one around the "neighborhood".  This time I took my camera to try and get pictures of these lovely old barns.

I should correct myself -- I use the term "old barns" loosely.  Some are old homes, some old barns.  Some decrepit, some still usable and in good shape.  Some with red paint, some with no paint.  Some stand proud on a hill, some are tilting under the weight of vines half-buried.  But most have been on narrow, two-lane country roads and have been impossible to get pictures of from the car.  Stopping on a curvy, hilly road has not proven safe!

I just really enjoy the character these buildings give the landscape.

So yesterday -- after Andy and I argued about me going riding solo on an unfamiliar road (since he had to work) so then I was relegated to using my mountain bike instead of my road bike, and riding locally instead of the loop we drew out weeks ago -- I thought about taking advantage of this bike ride to get some pictures.  (Click on the link under the photo to be able to scroll to see other pictures)

PS  Andy almost called my girlfriends in Florida to get their opinions!  Psstt...Melissa, Dee, Sue - if Andy does ever call you, just say "yes, let her ride!"

I really love old barns. There are tons around where my father lives. I often think that it would be great to salvage ones that are going to fall down and use it for something. I worked at a restaurant years ago that had used some on one wall and it was beautiful.
