So, what else happened way back in April? Can’t believe May is done and gone and I am once again behind on posting!
Elizabeth and I toured our local wildlife refuge one evening. Two Ponds is the nation’s smallest National Wildlife Refuge and it’s just about a two miles from our house. We just wandered the trails to see what we’d find. Other hikers told us we turned around just before the beaver dam. Bummer. They even saw the beaver swimming about. Oh well, I had my hands full carrying Elizabeth and her soccer ball (and trying not to drop either in the waterways) so I wasn’t about to turn around and go back at that point.
This year we were able to finally make it to the Arvada Kite Festival. Last year we weren’t able to find parking and didn’t want to deal with the bus shuttles with a stroller so we skipped it. This year we biked from our house. Perfect.
It was a lot of fun, even though we spent most of our time at the playground and not flying kites. Maybe next year we’ll try to get a kite in the sky and compete with so many others.
Many of you know that Elizabeth loves baseball. She enjoys watching it on TV with Daddy and also to go to games whenever we take the time to stop at a ball field. So when she got her Phillies PJs and a Philly Fanatic backpack, it was just too much. She always says she wants her “baseball jammies”. Here she is sporting her outfit…
We had quite a bit of snow this month. Here’s a picture out the back of our store showing snow-covered train tracks and the Old Flour Mill and water tower.
And a picture at sunrise out our backyard.
Beautiful scenes, but at this point, almost everyone in town was ready for spring and had wished this precipitation came in the form of rain.
We were also scheduled to get our new hot tub installed this month. So Andy ended up having to shovel our yard to prepare for the concrete pad. Yes, we were figuring our new neighbors thought we were quite insane.
Here’s Michael (our do-everything-we-need go-to guy) pouring the concrete:
And Elizabob (as in Bob the Builder) was very happy to have a real-life concrete truck and workers buzzing about.
And by April 30th, we were enjoying the hot tub.
