At the end of April, Andy and I ran in a local 5K race, the first one for me in several years. Since they allowed strollers, we were both able to do the run.
I did the 5K with Elizabeth in the stroller, while Andy did a 5K without. Surprisingly, we both ended up with awards. I placed 3rd in my Age Group and Andy place 3rd Overall! How exciting…and motivating.
I hadn’t been running much with Elizabeth, so I wasn’t sure how she’d react to being in a running race. I wasn’t surprised however, when one mile into the race she started up with “I want to go home.” I kept trying to explain to her that I couldn’t stop (therefore, neither could she) until we reached the finish line. I gave up on that and then just focused on trying to get her to be positive – to cheer on Mommy and everyone else who was running. But I have to admit…whining does make me run faster!
I found it funny that Eliz was starving after the race and really dug her teeth into the post-race bagels that were available.
