Happy Easter

I wanted to see Elizabeth do an Easter Egg Hunt again this year, but unfortunately we chose to stay home last weekend when we got 12” of snow during the various hunts that were going on around town.

So instead I thought I’d try to make Easter memorable for her in a different way.  Since we didn’t want to fill up an Easter Basket with candy and chocolate, I decided to pick up some small gifts instead.  We filled her basket with new Play Doh colors, Play Doh cutter tools, crazy straws, kid-size gardening tools, and of course the one obligatory chocolate Easter Bunny (this one was dressed for Baseball, which she loves).

The day before Easter we showed her how to dye Easter eggs and then Easter morning she got her basket and the Easter Bunny hid her eggs out in the backyard for her to find.  It was all very fun, even if she threw the first couple of eggs she found.  So much for me eating them!

Then we took the afternoon and went for a hike at Settler’s Park in Boulder.  This time we chose a trail that we only touched on once before.  We wanted to see where it went.  Our turn-around point was at a trail junction with a view of snow-capped mountains.  It was beautiful and seemed like a good turning point.  The trail was pretty steep with lots of bigger rocks and small gravel with a steep slope on the downside of the mountain in many parts.  Elizabeth didn’t want to get back into the backpack for the return trip, so Andy had to carry her in his arms all the way down.  Not an easy task.  I wouldn’t have been able to do that and see my feet.  But she loved being out on the trail and “hiking”.

From there we went into Boulder for lunch and then strolled Pearl Street listening to the buskers playing their music or juggling or whatever.  And Elizabeth enjoyed the two different play areas where she could climb on either rocks or statues.

It was a great way for the three of us to celebrate this special day.
