I went back to the Zoo this month, but with my friend Carrie and her son, Liam. Liam is just a wee bit older than Eliz and they’ve known each other almost since birth.
It was a sticky, hot July day and I felt bad for Carrie as she was well into her second pregnancy. But that’s what is nice about memberships – you go for a little while and you don’t fret about the cost. The little kids don’t last too long anyway.
On this trip, we got both of the kids spinning the Prayer Wheels.
Then our last round of visitors came: Carol (Andy’s sister), Stephanie, Rosie and Brian. Oh what fun we had! On this visit we knew we just had too many visitors to comfortably fit in our two-bedroom condo, so we decided to spend a few nights in a rental up in Frisco. It was perfect.
Our place (at Cross Creek Condos) was right on the creek with big rockers on the back porch.
And we went on a hike right from the condo. Unfortunately, I can’t remember the name of the trail since I’m thinking back several months. (I really have to remember to take pictures of maps or trail signs so I can remember these things!)
The condo community had a indoor/outdoor (swim-through) pool with jacuzzi.
Another day we took a bike ride from Frisco and around the lake to Dillon.
Elizabeth loves biking. She gets so comfortable that she almost always takes a nice nap. She was fast asleep at a viewing point, so we were sure to brake her trailer with another bike so she wouldn’t roll away!
Here we were crossing over the earthen dam.
Then we stopped for lunch in Dillon before turning around for home.
Loved being able to eat outside on the water…just like we used to do in Florida all the time. It’s different to see mountains, though! We ate at the sail club or yacht club? in Dillon. Just a little burger shack type place, but exactly what we wanted…a table with a view.
We took a little snack break on our return to Frisco and Steph and Rosie got some beautiful shots of Eliz. She was sooo happy playing with her cousins.
After coming back to Denver, Andy took the group up to Mt Evans.
We love taking guests up to the top of a 14er (mostly driving with a short hike!). Not that the drive is that much fun when you are the driver – yikes – I much prefer being a passenger and just enjoying the views.
Elizabeth made it to the peak once before…in utero. So I was thrilled to see her pretty face by the sign (even if I wasn’t there to witness it in person). I was also glad Andy got to the peak this time.
Another fantastic visit with family! Gives us some good excuses to see some of this breathtaking state we live in.
