Problems with Pictures

I'm perplexed. I've tried several different methods to try and correct my photo problems from the end of our trip. I'm now thinking it's because they were from my film camera and were put on cd by CVS/Eckerd or someplace and that may be the reason why they are not posting correctly. I'm open to suggestions if anyone has an answer to this...

Hi. Dave here. Dave and Marilyn...from Ft Collins! We always enjoy your blogs as a way to stay in touch. Here are my suspicions re: your photos.

I sounds like you scanned photos for publishing to the web. Scanning at the highest resolution is best for long-term use of the photos. However, publishing them to the web as large pictures (this one is 744KB) isn't necessary. Usually that is only an issue of slower than necessary downloading. However, it looks like the Google blogger converts the larger image to its standard size image rather poorly.

I took one of the photos (the beer reminded me of FC), reduced its size and published it to our blog page. It seems to be of good clarity.

It would be an extra step for scanned pictures to reduce their size before uploading, but might be the answer you are seeking.

Say hi to Andy. We've considered selling the RV, but at the used prices might as well donate to a favorite charity, so we'll keep using it for periodic trips as we planned, for now.

Oops! I see now that the "drugstore" digitized the pictures, rather tahn you sacnning them. Nonetheless, its my guess that the large size relative to the Google "standard" is the culprit.

Duh! Nothing like solving the wrong problem. I was looking at the wrong photo album and missed the real problem(s). The Ireland pictures did have some minor distortion on the highlights, which re-sizing seems to correct, but nothing like the problems with the newer photos.

I just loaded one of the swamp pictures into an editor and re-saved it. It seems to correct the major noise that you were really asking about. Not sure why/how the originals got damaged.

This is one of the fundamental problems with the internet. Ignorance (and typing errors) can now travel at the speed of light, and it's not easy to get them back, once delivered.

Enjoy your new home.

Perhaps you should ask the goddess of blog photography.

Hey Diane,
I'm wondering if you used Hello to post the photos? Wanna send me a couple of your originals and let me play?
